Purpose of Computers in Education

Computers are one of the most valuable resources in a classroom because they serve so many useful functions. With computers and the internet, students today have a wealth of information at their fingertips that can help them develop their research and communication skills while preparing them for a future career in a workforce that is increasingly reliant on computer technology.

One of the most common applications of computers in education today involves the ongoing use of educational software and programs that facilitate personalized online instruction for students. Programs like iReady use computers to assess students in reading and math. Multiple Learning Styles: Blackboard (Bb) can allow you to provide multiple content formats (text, images, sound, audio, animations, graphs, etc.), which allows for students to find material based on their preferred learning style.
Repetition: Bb provides an area to place information about the course, assignments and exams in multiple locations. In the Syllabus a list of Course Goals/Objectives should be available. Repeating these goals/objectives within the assignment or content areas will direct the student through a learning path.
Audio/Video: As with this Italian course, students benefit greatly by watching an Italian movie clip. Seeing and listening to native Italian speaking people is at their fingertips anytime, anywhere. Small movie clips can be added into a Bb course or larger files can be linked to the Media Streaming Server.

Uses Of Computer In Education Field

Computers are being used actively in educational institutes to improve the learning process. Teachers can use audio video aids through computer to prepare lesson plans. They can use Microsoft Power Point to prepare electronic presentations about their lectures. These electronic presentations will be displayed on multimedia projectors in class rooms. This will be interesting and easy to learn for students. Multimedia presentations are easy to deliver for teachers too, These presentations save a lot of effort and time. Moreover multimedia presentations are interesting to view and hear sound and visual  effects. Computers will be helpful for:

1.   Instructing the students using PowerPoint slides, Word documents or Web pages and using hyperlinks for better concept clarity.

     2.  Helps in improving pronunciation of students by using microphones, headphones, speakers, specially prepared software and special dedicated websites.

     3. Encouraging the students to use internet, surf web pages and gather relevant detailed information  through search engines. Students will gain a lot of information and knowledge by positive use of internet.
